Teething Toy, Sold on Amazon, Recalled After Choking Reports
The CPSC said the toys violate safety standards and three choking or respiratory distress reports have been filed.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled about 70,410 GOPO TOYS Pull String Teething Toys sold on Amazon due to serious choking and respiratory distress risks to children.
According to Thursday's notice, silicone strings on the toys are smaller and longer than permitted standards, allowing them to lodge in a child's throat and cause respiratory distress or choking.
Identifiable by the brand name and "Pull String Toy" printed on packaging, the off-white disc features six pull string "tentacles" and seven soft push buttons, with batch numbers 250905, 250530, 250120, 240315, 231005 or 230610.
Consumers should immediately stop using the toys and take them away from children, cutting the strings and marking the body "DESTROYED" with permanent marker before submitting a photograph to recalls@gopotoys.com.
This action follows similar teething toy recalls by other companies earlier this year and last month; in May, The CPSC issued a separate recall for more than 100,000 children's teething toys for comparable choking risks.
