On August 26, a massive flash flood and mudslide caused damage over a huge area in Nepal and Tibet. One place that was destroyed was a busy border crossing between Nepal and China. The sudden flooding has killed over 950 people, and more than 4,000 people are still missing. Source
Millions of tons of ice in the glaciers around the affected areas of Nepal and Tibet could collapse and cause new floods, with Chinese experts alerting them against the backdrop of an ongoing rescue operation.
According to Nepal's disaster management agency, 987 deaths have been confirmed, and on the Chinese side, the update speaks of 16 deaths.
