The General Prosecutor's Office of Versailles, as well as the defence of the accused policeman, challenged the decision of the Court of Appeal of Versailles on 5 March.
The Versailles Court of Appeal ordered, on 5 March, that the accused policeman, initially charged with "murder", be finally tried for "violence that led to death without intent to give it."
On Monday, 16 March, the General Prosecutor's Office of Versailles filed an appeal in cassation against the requalification of the murder of the policeman who killed Nahel Merzouk as a violent act. The lawyers of the civil parties also contest this decision of the Court of Appeal of 5 March.
