Brutal Soulslike Mortal Shell 2 Chooses Violence, Adds Another Release Date to 2026's Already Stuffed August Traffic Jam
Playstack says the sequel will also launch on Xbox and PC, while the Revered Edition adds art cards, an art book and a steelbook case.
- Publisher Playstack announced that Cold Symmetry's Mortal Shell 2 will launch on August 20, 2026, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S with a dark fantasy setting and challenging combat mechanics.
- Two extra editions accompany the launch: the Revered Edition bundles art cards, an art book, and steelbook case, while the Devout Edition offers the Obsidian Skin Set for all eight playable characters plus three days of early access.
- Xbox gamers must purchase the game digitally on launch day, as physical versions remain PS5-exclusive; this strategy predates Sony's controversial announcement last week regarding discontinuation of physical PlayStation discs by 2028.
- Arriving two days after The Sinking City 2, Mortal Shell 2 enters a crowded late-August window; Star Wars: Zero Company and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy release one week later on August 27.
- Following a beta that attracted 500,000 players, Mortal Shell 2 could reach one million copies sold by the end of 2026 if well-received, positioning the title as a standout Soulslike in a competitive market.
