Ebola kills 1,700 in eastern Congo as the fastest-growing outbreak surges

- The Democratic Republic of the Congo's rapidly expanding Ebola outbreak has killed 1,707 people out of 3,802 recorded cases, making it the second-largest and fastest-growing epidemic on record.
