De Minaur Races Into Queen's Club Quarter-Finals
De Minaur won 6-4, 6-1 in 64 minutes and improved to 6-0 against Shapovalov on the ATP Tour.
On Wednesday, Australian No. 1 Alex de Minaur defeated Canadian Denis Shapovalov 6-4, 6-1 at the Queen's Club Championship in London, securing his spot in the quarter-finals.
Extending his ATP Tour head-to-head record to 6-0, de Minaur capitalized on Shapovalov's focus issues, which included nine double faults during the 64-minute match at Andy Murray Arena.
Former champion Lleyton Hewitt watched from the players' box as de Minaur hit 16 winners and saved three of four break points against Shapovalov.
De Minaur will face American Brandon Nakashima in the quarter-finals, following Nakashima's 6-2, 6-2 victory over Peru's Ignacio Buse.
Building momentum ahead of Wimbledon, de Minaur seeks his third grass-court title after reaching the final in 's-Hertogenbosch last week.
