Dave Bautista Closing Deals For ‘Highlander’ & ‘Road House 2’ At Amazon MGM Studios – The Dish
UK AND HONG KONG, AUG 7 – Dave Bautista is finalizing roles in Amazon MGM's Highlander remake as villain The Kurgan and in Road House 2 opposite Jake Gyllenhaal, expanding the studio's action slate.
- On March 2, 2025 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline reported that WWE Champion Dave Bautista is in final talks to join Highlander and Road House 2.
- Last year, Highlander director Chad Stahelski teased moving the remake from the early 1500s to present-day New York and Hong Kong, with United Artists fully acquiring rights from Lionsgate.
- The 2024 Road House remake pulled in 80 million viewers on Prime Video in its first eight weeks, with Road House 2 scripted by Will Beall and directed by Ilya Naishuller after Guy Ritchie's exit.
- Principal photography for Highlander begins at the end of September in the UK and Hong Kong, starring Henry Cavill as Connor MacLeod, Russell Crowe as Ramirez, and Marisa Abela.
- The sequels are poised to arrive in 2027 or 2028, and fans of the first Road House remake can expect more action and new characters with Bautista and Gyllenhaal, according to Deadline.
