Dar calls on OIC to urge Taliban to eliminate terrorism 'with sincerity'

- On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar addressed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Contact Group on Afghanistan in New York, urging the Taliban to take "concrete and verifiable actions" to prevent their soil from being used for terrorist attacks.
- Pakistan remains deeply concerned by over two dozen terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan, including the TTP, BLA, and ISIL-K. Dar cited the recent Kohat suicide bombing, which killed "at least 24 Pakistanis," as evidence of the grave threat.
- Calling policies contrary to Islamic principles, Dar pressed the Taliban to lift restrictions on women and girls and promote inclusive governance. He asserted ordinary Afghans "already suffered enough from civil war and conflict."
- International donors must provide adequate funding to meet Afghanistan's humanitarian aid requirements, Dar emphasized. He commended the OIC Office in Kabul and support through the Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre.
- Beyond Afghanistan, Dar addressed the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir, thanking the organization for continued support for the Kashmiri people. He criticized India's unilateral measures as destabilizing to the region.
