Danjiang Bridge opens to traffic as crowds stream onto landmark crossing
Taipei, May 12 (CNA) The Danjiang Bridge officially opened to traffic around noon Tuesday, with vehicles steadily flowing across the long-awaited span linking New Taipei's Tamsui and Bali districts, despite some confusion and frustration over traffic arrangements.
Transportation Minister Chen Shih-kai presided over the unveiling ceremony of the Tamkang Bridge Management Center and a blessing ceremony for the opening of the bridge today. He personally drove the engineering staff across the bridge to thank the construction team for their hard work, and emphasized that the Tamkang Bridge will be an important landmark and tourist attraction in Taiwan, and a great event for New Taipei City.
