Dan Hooker submits in UFC main event

Tsarukyan secured a second-round arm-triangle choke submission over Hooker to become the UFC's top lightweight contender and immediately called for a title fight against Ilia Topuria.

  • Arman Tsarukyan submitted Dan Hooker with an arm-triangle choke in Round two at Doha's Ali Bin Hamad al-Attiyah Arena, securing a UFC Qatar victory.
  • Tsarukyan entered UFC Qatar on a four-fight win streak and had been forced out of a scheduled UFC 311 rematch with a back injury on weigh-in day, while the main event was staged to sort the lightweight division title picture.
  • After shooting for a takedown in under a minute, Tsarukyan worked from top position using elbows and strikes to move into mount and secure the arm-triangle choke.
  • The victory cemented Tsarukyan as the division's No 1 contender, and he immediately called for a title shot against Ilia Topuria, while Hooker's loss extended his 0-3 Middle East record.
  • The card capped a stretch of consecutive UFC shows before the promotion finishes its 2025 schedule with two December events, and fans saw five of six fights end inside the distance.
