Dan Burn shares special Kevin Keegan memory before Newcastle United vs Liverpool
Burn said he met Keegan for lunch in May and wants Newcastle to pay proper respects as both clubs mark the opener with tributes.
Newcastle United hosted Liverpool at St James' Park on the opening weekend, with both clubs paying emotional tribute to the late icon Kevin Keegan before kick-off.
Keegan, who passed away in July at age 75, was a legendary figure at both clubs, earning the nickname "King Kev" during his managerial tenure at Newcastle.
Players from both teams warmed up wearing "Keegan 7" shirts, while a centre-circle mosaic featured more than 500 shirts left by supporters at the stadium.
Legends including Alan Shearer, Sir Kenny Dalglish, and Ian Rush attended the ceremony, as chants of "There's only one Kevin Keegan" rang around the ground during a minute's applause.
Matthias Jaissle is managing Newcastle following Eddie Howe's exit, while Andoni Iraola has taken charge of Liverpool succeeding Arne Slot, marking a new managerial era for both sides.
