EU subsidies are a lucrative target for fraudsters. For years, they have been trying to find loopholes, bend the rules, and devise mechanisms to obtain the funds. They cultivate weeds, plant plastic olive trees, build useless structures, and use COVID-19 subsidies to spend time in luxury hotels.
There's only one thing more absurd than subsidies in general – EU subsidies. And all of them – because there are no good or bad subsidies, no sensible or senseless subsidies – are only bad and senseless. And it doesn't matter whether they're subsidies for farmers, IT specialists, home insulation contractors, or those buying exorbitantly priced battery-powered cars.
