- On Dec. 31, 2025, Pimicikamak Cree Nation about 530 kilometres north of Winnipeg experienced a power outage after a line snapped, causing damage and prompting a federal aid request, Lemur said.
- A snapped 300-metre-long power line across the Nelson River caused the outage, and Manitoba Hydro required about four days to repair it due to safety concerns.
- Chief David Monias, Pimicikamak Cree Nation Chief, said it's unclear how many of the more than 1,300 homes need repairs, with about 35 homes uninhabitable and at least 200 homes with water shut off.
- The Manitoba government asked Ottawa on Monday, and federal technical teams are assessing damage as the community's power was restored Friday, Naylor said.
