Family of D4vd's Alleged Victim Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit
The suit says D4vd killed and dismembered the 14-year-old after a long sexual relationship, and it seeks damages from his companies and aides.
- On Monday, the parents of Celeste Rivas Hernandez filed a wrongful death lawsuit against singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, alleging he is responsible for their 14-year-old daughter's 2025 death and sexual abuse.
- Prosecutors and the lawsuit allege Burke began a "continuous sexual relationship" with Celeste in November 2023 when she was 13, eventually killing her to prevent her from exposing their affair as his music career took off.
- Burke allegedly messaged "gates open, door's unlocked" at 10:10 p.m. on the night of the killing; about 20 minutes later, prosecutors contend he stabbed her twice, then "let her bleed to death" in his Hollywood Hills home.
- The family called for Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman to seek capital punishment on Monday, which would have been Celeste's 16th birthday, stating, "That's not in our hands, but rather in God's and the California justice system."
- Burke remains jailed without bail after pleading not guilty to murder and other charges; with a trial scheduled for next year, he is currently represented by the Los Angeles County public defender's office.
