Sabalenka Stunned by Bejlek in Cincinnati Fourth Round
World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka lost to Czech Sara Bejlek on Wednesday at the Cincinnati Masters, falling 7-6, 6-4 despite leading 5-1 in the opening set.
The 20-year-old Czech Bejlek secured her first career win over a top 10 opponent, rallying from 4-1 down in the second set to complete the upset. "I lost my words — it feels incredible," Bejlek said.
Sabalenka's defeat allows Elena Rybakina to potentially claim the top ranking by reaching the Cincinnati Open final. Bejlek advances to face Madison Keys in the quarter-finals.
American Tommy Paul battled back to defeat top seed Alexander Zverev 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 in the men's draw. The German took a 4-2 third-set lead before Paul rallied to win four straight games.
Paul emerged from a nearly 90-minute rain delay to save a match point, overcoming Zverev's 14 aces and nine double faults. He advances to face Italian Flavio Cobolli, who defeated Spain's Rafael Jodar.
