SOUTHWESTERN MEXICO, AUG 6 – Tropical Storm Ivo may briefly reach hurricane strength while causing up to 6 inches of rain and life-threatening surf along multiple southwestern Mexican states, officials said.
- Tropical Storm Ivo formed in the eastern Pacific Ocean and could impact coastal Mexico, according to forecasters.
- Ivo has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and is located about 195 miles south-southeast of Acapulco, according to the National Hurricane Center.
- Ivo may produce 2 to 4 inches of rain with isolated totals up to 6 inches in parts of Guerrero, Michoacan, and Oaxaca through Saturday.
- Ivo is the second tropical storm in the eastern Pacific, joining Tropical Storm Henriette, which has maximum sustained winds of 50 mph and is located 1,555 miles east of Hilo, Hawaii.
