50% customs duty on Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon's products: "I'm in shock," says MP for the ultramarine territory

The U.S. President has decided to increase customs duties to all countries around the world, including small territories such as Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon.

US customs duties, announced on 2 April, hit all countries much more strongly than expected. Far from reviving protectionism, this policy is the affirmation of imperialism: each country is required to negotiate the price and weight of its chains towards the United States.

Just 6,000 people live in this hidden place in the world that, against all odds, has been the worst stop in this trade war led by Donald Trump, which has imposed 50% tariffs on his exports. It is that, far from being one of the great world powers, Saint-Pierre and Miquelon is a French territory located off the Canadian coast that proudly preserves their Basque cultural legacy.
