The previous surprise teams Curacao and Suriname have stumbled on their way to their first participation in a World Cup. While the Caribbean island of Curacao, which is trained by the former Dutch Bondscoach Dick Advocaat, separated in the qualification of North and Central America with 1:1 (1:0) from Triniad and Tobago, Suriname also came to a 1:1 (1:0) in Panama.
Curaçao secured a crucial point on its road to the 2026 World Cup. National coach Dick Advocaat's team drew 1-1 against Trinidad and Tobago in Willemstad on Wednesday morning (Dutch time). Curaçao still has qualification from Group B in its own hands.
