A criminal case has been transferred to the court, in which Audrius Saulynas, a member of the Varėna District Municipality Council, is accused of fraud, abuse, forgery of documents and possession of them.

According to the prosecutor's office, based on the data of the criminal case, A. Saulynas, while serving as a member of the Varėna District Municipality Council in 2019–2023, allegedly falsified 36 pieces of council member expense reports, in which he provided untrue data about allegedly incurred fuel purchase expenses, identifying them as related to the activities of the council member.
