Cream Cheese and Deli Salads Recalled over Potential Listeria Contamination
FDA testing found Listeria monocytogenes in the company’s facility, and no illnesses have been reported as production and distribution are halted.
On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Bay Shore, New York-based Made Fresh Salads Inc. recalled all ready-to-eat deli-style salads and cream cheese products after the Food and Drug Administration found Listeria in its production facility.
Environmental sampling by the FDA revealed Listeria in parts of the facility, prompting the company to halt production and distribution while investigating the contamination source alongside the agency.
Recalled items sold under the Made Fresh Salads and Northside brands were distributed across Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx in 30-pound and 5-pound tubs with expiration dates between September 3 and September 18, 2026.
Consumers should return affected products to the place of purchase for a full refund, though no illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the contaminated food.
Listeria can cause an "invasive illness" with Flu-like symptoms, potentially leading to miscarriage or stillbirth in Pregnant people, and the Centers for Disease Control warns it poses life-threatening risks to older adults and those with weakened immune systems.
