CPP Investments earns 7.5% return for its first quarter, net assets rise to $863.6B
The fund said $60.2 billion in net income and $10.1 billion in transfers lifted assets to $863.6 billion.
On Friday, CPP Investments reported a 7.5 per cent net return for the first quarter of its 2027 fiscal year, with net assets growing to $863.6 billion from $793.3 billion.
Chief executive John Graham attributed the strong results to public equity market performance, marking the fund's strongest quarterly performance in more than a decade.
Net income reached $60.2 billion, supplemented by $10.1 billion in net transfers from the Canada Pension Plan, while the fund generated a 10-year annualized net return of 9.4 per cent.
Alongside the financial results, the fund announced plans to provide annual carbon footprint disclosures at the portfolio level, detailing carbon intensity and energy transition risks.
"We consider material risks, including climate-related risks and opportunities, to support risk-adjusted returns over decades," Graham said, adding the fund remains committed to transparency as it invests across sectors.
