- On Tuesday, a Health PEI ambulance collided head-on with a transport truck near the Confederation Bridge in Melrose, New Brunswick, killing three people: two paramedics and a patient.
- New Brunswick RCMP reported the westbound ambulance collided with the truck on Route 16 at about 9:11 a.m. The transport truck driver was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
- Medavie Health Services spokesperson Samantha Hughes wrote to CBC, "We are deeply saddened by the tragic motor vehicle collision involving one of our ambulances today." The service is providing support to staff.
- Prince Edward Island Premier Rob Lantz said the deaths "left our entire province in shock and mourning," adding the paramedics "chose a profession built on compassion, courage, and service."
- Route 16 remained closed Tuesday afternoon as an RCMP collision reconstructionist examined the site; the road has since reopened while police continue investigating the crash's cause.
