George Pickens Attends Dallas Cowboys Minicamp
The receiver attended his first offseason practice on a $27.3 million franchise tag while contract talks for a long-term deal remain on hold.
On Tuesday, star wide receiver George Pickens arrived at The Star for the start of mandatory minicamp, ending his absence from the Dallas Cowboys' voluntary offseason program.
Dallas placed Pickens on the franchise tag earlier this offseason, guaranteeing him $27.3 million for the upcoming year while allowing him to follow up his breakout campaign on a "prove-it deal."
Last season, Pickens earned his first Pro Bowl nod after finishing with 93 receptions, 1,429 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed Pickens will participate only in individual drills to avoid soft tissue injuries, joking that the receiver took the role of "Coach Pickens" on his first day.
Team drills for Pickens will wait until the Cowboys kick off training camp in Oxnard later this month, as the organization prioritizes a cautious ramp-up period.
