In the wake of the High Court ruling in Bird v DP (2024) HCA 41, which found that priests are not employees and therefore the Catholic Church cannot be held vicariously responsible for their actions, a robust exchange of jurisprudence broke out between the unrepresented plaintiff and the court during final submissions in the case of Haddock v The Roman Catholic Ecclesiastical Province (of Melb).
