- On Monday, Justice Maryam Aliyu Hassan ordered that Dr Chris Ngige be kept at Kuje Prison until December 18, shortly after hearing arguments on his bail request.
- The EFCC, represented by Sylvanus Tahir, SAN, opposed Ngige's bail, arguing he is a flight risk after failing to report back from administrative bail granted for medical travel abroad.
- Ngige's lawyer, Patrick Ikwueto, SAN, pleaded for bail on health grounds and said Ngige would not jump bail, following an eight-count charge filed last Friday.
- Prosecutors told the court the passport-loss claim was an afterthought and EFCC said the international passport released for the abroad trip was never returned.
- The case involves former Minister Dr Chris Ngige and the EFCC, with senior counsels Sylvanus Tahir, SAN, and Patrick Ikwueto, SAN, making submissions before Justice Hassan at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory at Gwarimpa, Abuja.
