- On Feb. 24, 2026, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit refused to block IRS data sharing with DHS, as a three-judge panel declined a preliminary injunction in Centro de Trabajadores Unidos v. Bessent.
- Immigrant-Rights groups sued, fearing the program will increase deportations and workplace raids after the data-sharing agreement was signed by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, prompting litigation and the acting Internal Revenue Service commissioner to resign last year.
- Earlier this month, court filings revealed the IRS verified roughly 47,000 of the 1.28 million names ICE requested and erroneously shared thousands of taxpayer records with DHS.
