The Court of Auditors criticises media funding in Austria and recommends opening up to new media and anchoring quality criteria.


The Court of Auditors recommends a revision of the domestic media funding system. In the course of a review of the non-legislative media authority KommAustria and its RTR office, which administers and awards funding such as press or quality journalism, the auditors noted that the expansion of media diversity is currently being hampered. Also, quality criteria should be strengthened, the audit body suggested to the Ministry of Media.
