A COUPLE FROM DALMATIA is under investigation by the State Attorney's Office for human trafficking. It is suspected that they kept two adopted girls in a slave-like relationship, forced them to work, physically punished them, and locked them in a garage.
The County State Prosecutor's Office in Dubrovnik launched an investigation against two Croatian citizens on suspicion of having committed the crime of human trafficking.
The adoptive parents also punished the girls physically and disciplined them, including by cutting their hair.
After professional services assessed that the children were at high risk and that their continued stay in the family could seriously jeopardize their psychophysical development, the girls were separated from their families and placed in a social welfare institution.
