Meghalaya Cops Search for Missing Indore Couple Last Spotted on Way to Sohra
- A newlywed pair from Indore in Madhya Pradesh disappeared near Sohra in Meghalaya on May 23, 2025, while traveling on their honeymoon.
- On May 22, the couple hired a scooter to visit Mawlakhiat village and Nongriat, where they spent the night before returning to Mawlakhiat the following day, after which they went missing.
- Their abandoned scooter was discovered on May 24 close to a local eatery in Sohrarim village, which led to a widespread investigation involving police and community members searching nearby forested trails and trekking paths.
- Officials stated that attempts to contact the couple have been unsuccessful as both their phones have been powered off since May 23. In response, police have reviewed CCTV recordings, consulted with local residents, and deployed three search teams under the leadership of East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem.
- The disappearance highlights the region’s challenging terrain and follows a similar tourist case in April, leading authorities to urge caution and certified guides for trekking in the sensitive ecological zone.
