Count Begins as Pitbull Aims for Record Gathering of People Wearing Bald Caps
Thousands of fans in bald caps joined the count as organizers sought a Guinness World Records mark before Pitbull’s headline set, officials said.
- On Friday, musician Armando Christian Perez, known as Pitbull, and his fans set a Guinness World Record at BST Hyde Park for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps, with an official count of 22,141 participants.
- BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James and content creator Jack Remmington initiated the attempt after a viral trend saw fans dressing as the artist; Pitbull agreed to the challenge after being texted on air earlier this year.
- Guinness World Records adjudicator Will Munford oversaw verification using 400 volunteers and drone footage with 42 counters backstage. Officials required participants to wear bald caps, not be naturally bald, to qualify for the record.
- Perez hailed the record as a "blessing" and an "honour," while fans described the artist as "an inspiration" who brings "such good vibes" to his performances. The musician told the crowd, "when y'all put on them bald caps you know you're about to have the time of your life."
- The sell-out concert drew 69,999 attendees, making it the highest-attended BST Hyde Park gig this year. Fans, known as "Bald-es," established a new global benchmark after the festival increased its capacity.
