Top French Court Rules Major Porn Sites Must Check Users' Ages
FRANCE, JUL 15 – The French Council of State overturned a suspension to enforce age verification on porn sites to protect minors, with over half of French boys accessing such sites monthly, Arcom said.
- On July 15, 2025, France’s Council of State annulled a lower court’s suspension, reinstating age verification for Pornhub, YouPorn and RedTube.
- A 2024 French law mandated age checks for EU-based porn sites, but a Paris administrative tribunal suspended the March decree in June.
- Pornhub, YouPorn and RedTube disabled access in early June to protest the mandate, while Arcom reported over half of boys aged 12 and older visit those sites monthly.
