At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Toshihiko Koga fought with a serious injury to his knees, sustained just days before the beginning of the competition. With the help of painkillers, Koga was not only able to fight, he won the gold medal. Immediately after the competition, he was flown back to Japan for knee surgery.
