In Côte d'Ivoire, 81-year-old former President Laurent Gbagbo was reappointed on Thursday 14 May 2026 to head his party, the PPA-CI. The latter has held his first ordinary Congress in Abidjan since Thursday, with the aim of revitalizing the party, which did not participate in the recent legislative and presidential elections of October 2025.
A little more than six months after announcing that he wanted to withdraw from his party, Laurent Gbagbo was returned to his head on 14 May, proving that he remained indisputable in his camp.
