Turkish police detained Onursal Adıgüzel, mayor of İstanbul’s Ataşehir district, three deputy mayors and 14 others in an overnight operation as part of an ongoing crackdown that has hit a growing number of municipalities run by the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP).
As part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an operation was carried out at Ataşehir Municipality; 18 people, including Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel, were taken into custody.
In Istanbul, 18 people, including Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel, were detained as part of a corruption investigation targeting the Ataşehir Municipality.
