Coronation Street legend to get spin-off show after more than 50 years on ITV soap
The one-off special will revisit his 66-year run as Ken Barlow and is expected to air later this year or in early 2027.
- ITV is producing a tribute special titled Bill Roache: Life on the Street to honor William Roache for his 66-year tenure on Coronation Street.
- Since the series first premiered on December 9, 1960, Roache has played Ken Barlow continuously, holding the Guinness World Record for the longest-serving television star in a continuous role.
- With six months of collaborative work, production company MultiStory is developing the documentary, which an insider described as "a very celebratory programme marking the huge achievement of being on Corrie for the past 66 years."
- Corrie boss Iain MacLeod affirmed that Roache will never be written out of the soap, noting, "He's the most professional member of the cast."
- Expected to air later this year or in early 2027, the documentary honors a career spanning more than 60 years and solidifies his status as a prominent figure in British television history.
