Corbin Carroll Helps Diamondbacks Beat Rockies with 2-Home Run Game
Carroll hit his sixth and seventh homers as Arizona built an 8-2 lead and held off a late Colorado rally.
In Denver, Corbin Carroll homered twice and drove in three runs as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 8-6 on Sunday in the rubber game of their three-game series.
After a 105-minute weather delay, Diamondbacks pitcher Michael Soroka threw 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits while Arizona built an early lead against Colorado starter Michael Lorenzen.
Carroll crushed a 431-foot home run and a 448-foot solo shot, while Gabriel Moreno added three hits to extend the Diamondbacks' lead to 7-2 by the fifth inning.
Colorado rallied for four runs in the eighth inning against reliever Brandon Pfaadt, but Paul Sewald threw a scoreless ninth to secure his 10th save in 11 attempts.
Arizona secured its first road series victory since April and now travels to Phoenix, where Diamondbacks RHP Zac Gallen starts opposite Giants LHP Robbie Ray on Monday.
