A confrontation between Mexican authorities and an armed group in the convulsed state of Sinaloa (north-east) left 13 assailants dead and four other detainees, security secretary Omar García Harfuch reported Monday. Sinaloa, located on the Pacific coast, has been shaken for more than a year by a violent conflict between factions of a powerful local cartel that leaves at least 1,700 people murdered, 57 of them minors, and almost 2,000 missing.
After the armed clash, a total of four people were arrested and nine people released, the Mexican Secretary of Security said.
