The euro has fallen to its lowest level against the dollar since May 2025. It has also dropped by more than 1 lira against the Turkish lira in the last two weeks. Markets are now focused on the Fed's interest rate decision.
The new big drop in French bonds dragged down securities from countries such as Italy, Belgium and Greece, with spreads widening significantly.
European purses contrasted with the euro at minima from May 2025 to $1.12 and the spread between Btp and Bund again at 120 points. (ANSA)
The euro is under strong pressure in the foreign exchange market, falling by 0.44% against the dollar and reaching intra-session levels of $1.118, its lowest level since May 2025.
The European single currency fell by 0.31% to US$1,1219 at 05:25.
