About 1,800 checks have been carried out on the geographical indications AOP and IGP. The repression of fraud alerts this Thursday on the misuse of these quality labels. All levels of the food chain are concerned: agriculture, import, catering, retail trade... - "Surprising and misleading practices": the suppression of fraud alerts on the misuse of PDOs and PGIs (Conso and Trends).
DGCCRF has pinned many establishments after an extensive control campaign revealing usurpations of quality signs on food products.
The organization completed 70 audits, including inspections at both packing facilities and in the field. These actions aim to ensure traceability and certify the origin of citrus fruits such as oranges, mandarins, and lemons produced in the Valencian Community. See more
PDOs and PGIs on products that do not deserve them: the DGCCRF published on Thursday 30 July the results of its checks carried out in 2023 among 1,800 establishments, revealing misleading practices at all stages of the food chain.
