Construction to begin on Netflix’s 289-acre film and TV studio in New Jersey

  • Netflix broke ground on a 292-acre film and television studio at the former Fort Monmouth Army base in New Jersey on May 13, 2025.
  • The project follows New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy's 2022 announcement and required zoning amendments to repurpose the military site for media production.
  • The campus will feature 12 soundstages, backlots, retail, office buildings, a helipad, hotel, and other support facilities with phased construction starting on a 29-acre zone.
  • Netflix expects to create about 1,400 permanent jobs, 3,500 construction jobs, invest $903 million, and benefit from a 40% state tax credit worth $150 million over a 10-year agreement.
  • Officials said the studio will boost New Jersey's economy by billions, revive Fort Monmouth, and advance the state's status as an entertainment production hub on the East Coast.
