Connecticut Work Zone Speed Cameras Now Operating; $75 Fines Begin July 6 as Stratford Attorney Advises Motorists on Rights and Exposure
Connecticut started using automated work zone speed cameras on June 1, 2026, with $75 fines beginning July 6.
The program uses radar cameras to catch vehicles exceeding the work zone speed limit by 10 mph or more.
From June 1 to July 5, the system issues warnings; after that, a second violation within a year results in a $75 fine while a first violation gets a warning.
Fines do not add insurance points or appear on driving records and are sent to the registered vehicle owner, not necessarily the driver.
