U.S. Teen Influencer Has Been Stranded in the Chilean Antarctic Since Landing without Permission
CHILE, AUG 11 – Ethan Guo avoided trial by agreeing to donate $30,000 to a children’s cancer foundation and cover expenses after unauthorized Antarctic flight, Chilean prosecutors said.
- American teen influencer Ethan Guo has been stuck in a remote Chilean Antarctic location since June after landing his small plane without authorization.
- Guo provided false flight plan information while authorized only to fly over Punta Arenas, which led to charges of false information and illegal landing on June 29.
- On Monday, a judge dismissed the charges against Guo as part of a deal requiring him to donate $30,000 to a children's cancer charity and cover all expenses related to his time at the military facility.
- Chilean prosecutor Cristin Crisoto said Guo's plane lacks the capability to make a flight, while Guo said he remains in Antarctica awaiting departure approval to continue his original mission.
- Guo must leave Chile as soon as conditions allow, cover all expenses for his return, and is prohibited from reentering the territory for three years.
