Competition Bureau should investigate government for ‘greenwashing’: NDP
NDP Parliamentary Leader Don Davies claims that government advertisements about building clean energy projects may violate Canada's greenwashing laws, citing statements by Prime Minister Mark Carney.
The Competition Bureau defines greenwashing as false or misleading environmental claims about products, services, or practices.
Davies argues that Carney admitted Canada's emissions will rise after rolling back some Trudeau-era climate policies and questions the government's environmental claims.
The greenwashing law was passed under former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and was later amended by Carney's government to reduce proof requirements and restrict third-party investigation requests.
