A few days after the address to the nation of Comorian President Azali Assoumani on the economic consequences of the conflict in the Middle East, the Comorian government took orders this week formalizing an increase in fuel, new public transport tariffs and temporary relief of import taxes on certain essential products.
In the wake of President Azali Assoumani's speech announcing a fuel price increase without providing details, the transport union of Grande Comore warned that it would be unable to purchase the fuel, opting for a strike supported by retailers. This is the first major reaction from motorists since the fuel price hike was announced, formalized on Saturday by the signing of several decrees co-signed by the ministers of finance, economy, and energy.
