Home of Philadelphia 76ers, Flyers lands naming rights deal with Xfinity Mobile
- On May 6, 2025, the organizations behind Philadelphia's major sports teams announced that their home venue will be rebranded as Xfinity Mobile Arena starting September 1, 2025.
- This change follows Wells Fargo’s 2024 decision not to renew its naming rights deal, which had lasted since 2010 and reportedly cost about $1.4 million annually.
- The arena opened in 1996, hosts over 220 annual events with 2.5 million guests yearly, and Comcast owns the venue, the Flyers, and holds naming rights to a new arena being built with HBSE.
- Steve Croney, Comcast’s Chief Operating Officer, highlighted the strong enthusiasm of Philadelphia’s fans, noting that their competitive energy aligns well with the Xfinity Mobile brand’s objectives for the arena.
- The renaming and partnership run through the 2030-31 season and represent Comcast’s strategy to promote its growing mobile business as it develops a new arena opening in 2031-32.

What’s in a name? Well, apparently, for Philadelphians who just learned the new name of the arena formerly known as the Wells Fargo Center, the answer is “everything.” The arena, which replaced the legendary Spectrum in 1996, first opened as the CoreStates Center, then the First Union Center, before it became the Wachovia Center in 2003 and, finally, the Wells Fargo Center from 2010 on.
