The first thousands of people arrived in Ostrava on Wednesday afternoon for one of the largest multi-genre festivals in Europe, Colours of Ostrava. The main star of the first evening and the entire 22nd year is British musician Sting, who arrived with a team of about thirty people.
This year, Czech Railways also sent special trains to the Colours of Ostrava music festival. The Colours Express left Prague for Ostrava on Wednesday and will also provide transportation for participants after the festival. Visitors to the festival were transported by the new flagship of Czech Railways – the ComfortJet train. An accompanying program was also prepared on the train.
The multi-genre festival Colours of Ostrava will welcome more than a hundred performers to the Lower Vítkovice area between July 16 and 19. The main stars of the 22nd year will be Sting, The Chainsmokers, Iggy Pop, and the bands Justice and Snow Patrol.
This year is the last under the leadership of the festival's founder and artistic director Zlata Holušová, who is leaving the organizing team. This year's festival, which has a budget of around 300 million crowns, will offer 120 bands, including Czech and Slovak performers, in its musical program.
