Colombian man found guilty of double murder after leaving couple's bodies in suitcases on Bristol bridge
WEST LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 21 – Yostin Andres Mosquera was convicted of financially motivated, premeditated murders after killing a civil partnership couple, dismembering them, and attempting to steal their assets, jurors heard.
- Yostin Andres Mosquera, a 35-year-old Colombian national, was found guilty on July 21, 2025, of murdering Albert Alfonso and Paul Longworth at their Shepherd's Bush flat on July 8, 2024.
- Mosquera killed Longworth earlier in the day while Albert was at work, then fatally stabbed Albert during a recorded encounter. Afterwards, he dismembered and decapitated both men before disposing of their remains near Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge.
- Evidence included footage of Mosquera stabbing Albert multiple times to the torso, face, and neck, and attacking Paul with a hammer causing multiple severe blunt force head traumas; Mosquera kept heads in a freezer and transported other remains in suitcases.
- After deliberating for just over five hours, the jury unanimously found Mosquera guilty; he admitted to killing Albert but argued it was manslaughter due to loss of control, citing fears for his life stemming from threats to his family in Colombia.
- Sentencing for Mosquera was deferred until October 24, with the presiding judge indicating that life imprisonment was the only appropriate sentence and requesting a psychiatric evaluation to determine the minimum term to be served.
