- Undergraduate students from the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, primarily occupied the Elite Five Star Lodge, making the collapse particularly consequential for the student population and their families.
- Collaborating with the Anambra State Fire Service and the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency , the Anambra State Police Command mobilised immediately: "On receipt of the distress report, the Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, immediately mobilised to the scene, secured the area to prevent further danger, and coordinated rescue efforts," Ikenga stated.
- Police Public Relations Officer Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed rescuers evacuated some injured occupants to a local hospital in Oko for medical attention, while ongoing efforts continue to reach others trapped beneath the debris.
- Urging residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, Ikenga stated, "Further updates will be communicated as more verified information becomes available," emphasising unrestricted access for emergency responders.
