Coinbase Opens US IPO Access with Oura Listing
Eligible U.S. customers can request allocations through the Coinbase app, and the company said its method will favor investors likely to hold shares.
On Monday, Coinbase opened initial public offering access to eligible United States retail customers, beginning with the $2.2 billion public offering of smart-ring maker Oura.
Oura plans to list on Nasdaq under the ticker OURA, with Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and JPMorgan serving as lead underwriters, advancing Coinbase's 'Everything Exchange' strategy.
After completing a FINRA questionnaire, eligible customers can request allocations through the Coinbase mobile application. Coinbase Capital Markets acts as an agent, routing requests to Apex Clearing Corporation while prioritizing long-term investors.
Following the announcement, COIN shares rose more than 5% on Monday to approximately $54.1 billion market capitalization. The company intends to offer additional IPOs as its broker-dealer receives allocations from future selling groups.
The firm has also submitted registrations to the SEC and Commodity Futures Trading Commission for single-stock perpetual contracts. Unlike this IPO service, Coinbase's planned derivatives for OpenAI and Anthropic provide price exposure without ownership.
