Coca cultivation in Bolivia increased by 7% in 2025, especially in a stronghold of former President Evo Morales, where eradication efforts have failed, a UN agency said on Tuesday. The area of coca plantations in the Andean nation reached “364,000 hectares” in 2025, “representing a national increase of 7%” in one year, said Monica Mendoza, the representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in the country.
